Understanding How Geometry Works, a conceptual overview for educators is designed for students who are prospective elementary and middle school level teachers.  

It begins with a basic introduction to proof writing and problem solving, and continues by defining the ideas and concepts that are foundational to the geometry taught in the K-12 classroom:  constructions, lines, angles, triangles, the Pythagorean Theorem, polygons, perimeter and area, circles and curves, transformations, tessellations, and three-dimensional geometry.  Throughout are explanations that support a deep understanding of the whys and hows of geometry.  It includes thoughtful exercises, instructional activities, and advice to professors on implementing the book as a course.

The book fits a 16-week semester-long course at the community college level.
