This Contemporary Nursing open courseware is the openly licensed version of the course designed by Dr. Carolyn Lewis for Utah Tech University’s Contemporary Nursing NURS 4500. There is no textbook required for this course design, and it is designed to be a hybrid course taken during the last semester of a nursing program. This course explores a variety of contemporary nursing issues and topics including health literacy, healthcare disparities, political advocacy, clients rights, veteran care, end of life issues, and other topics of concern for nurses beginning their careers. There are fifteen modules each with content resources, assessments, rubrics, and activities that can be modified and used freely for other similar courses at other institutions.
