This is a textbook for an advanced undergraduate psychology course in Group Dynamics that is updated every semester by the students in the course. There are three units, each with four chapters. The first unit, Group Structures, covers questions of how and why groups form, what forms they take, and how they function. Unit 1 chapter headings include Group Formation, Social Norms, Cohesion, and Performance. The second unit, Individuals in Groups, addresses why people join groups, what role they play within the group (e.g. leader, newcomer, outcast) and what role the group plays within their lives. Unit 2 chapter headings include Belonging, Accountability, Social Roles, and Leadership. The third unit, Intergroup Relations, explores ingroup-outgroup bias, moral exclusion, intergroup ideologies, social dilemmas and solutions to these challenges. Unit 3 chapter headings include Ingroups and Outgroups, Approaches to Diversity, Social Dilemmas, and Resolutions.
