The book Inzicht Academische Vaardigheden voor Bouwkundigen provides an in-depth view of architecture as an academic discipline, explicitly addresses the relationship between design and research, and focuses particularly on practical skills that architecture students develop during their undergraduate studies in Delft. The book is structured in four parts. Part A focuses on the place of architecture within science. Part B focuses on basic skills, such as general academic skills for building engineers. Part C deepens specific building science research methods. Part D, the final part, focuses on practice on the one hand and reflection on the other. Because of this broad structure, the book can be used directly by students and teachers, and the use is not limited to courses and modules with specific focus on academic skills. The book is also a reference work for other architecture and building sciences courses in the Netherlands and abroad, providing insight into how we at TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture view the discipline and what academic skills are required at the Bachelor's level.
