Can You Escape? Cracking the Code of Information Sources is Singapore Management University (SMU) Libraries’ first Educational Escape Room (EER) workshop. This 90-min in-person workshop aimed to equip first-year undergraduate students with practical skills to effectively assess and apply different information sources in their academic research.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:  

• Analyze different types of online information sources by distinguishing their characteristics, purpose, and intended audiences.   
• Apply appropriate information sources to specific research scenarios by selecting the most relevant and reliable options for different academic contexts.   
• Evaluate information sources by critically examining their authority, purpose, and relevance to determine their reliability and validity.    
• Identify properly formatted APA citations for various information sources.
