The Methodology Compass is an open educational web application that helps doctoral students and advanced researchers in the social sciences and business choose a coherent research design. Most decision tools in this space stop at the surface, asking whether your data are numbers or words and recommending a technique. The Compass treats the choice as architecture rather than arithmetic, walking the full chain from ontology and epistemology through paradigm, methodology, methods, and analytic strategy, and showing how commitments at each layer constrain the next. Five entry points serve different stages of thinking: a Guided Pathway that builds a stack from ten short questions, a Compendium of around seventy traditions covered with both plain-English and scholarly depth, a Coherence Map that diagnoses any combination, a set of Exemplars showing canonical and contemporary studies dissected by their architecture, and a Glossary of vocabulary students will be expected to wield in a viva or defence. The atlas treats critical, decolonial, post-qualitative, indigenous, computational, and design-science traditions as full citizens rather than afterthoughts. The whole tool runs as a single self-contained HTML file: no build, no backend, no tracking, deployable to GitHub Pages or used offline.
