This animation provides an example of the various drug therapies available for the treatment of HIV. A combination of drugs can inhibit nucleic acid replication or inhibit protease cleavage of large polyproteins thus reduces the probability of resistance. Chemicals called chemokines are under research to be possibly used as a treatment to impede HIV.
