Material Detail

The LangMedia Spanish Collection
A site that provides authentic language in its natural environment through the use of authentic videos taken on location in various Spanish speaking countries. The videos are broken down by location, as well as by topic. Some of the topics include transportation, internet, telephones, and eating out. Additionally, Spanish and English transcripts accompany each video. Not all grammar or other mistakes are corrected in order to better demonstrate slang and colloquial speech patterns.

I haven't used this in my classroom YET, but I plan to. I give this site the
highest rating! It's wonderful to be able to share cultural characteristics
using short video clips in the classroom. I appreciate the variety of topics
and the attention to keeping clips brief but informative.
The clips have an authentic quality - incorporating language trends of the
different cultures. Various Spanish-speaking countries are represented in video
clips exposing students to various accents and gestures.
A very handy classroom tool; a good way to reach students who rely on visuals
for understanding and learning.

Technical Remarks:
Audio is scratchy. I don't know if that is the speaker system on my computer or
"technical difficulty". It comes through as though it was recorded at too high
a level.
