Ocular and Orbital Pathologies

Online version of "Ocular and Orbital Pathologies" presentation given at National Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Symposium, 2003. Presented by the NATA Education Council - Continuing Education Subcommittee. Although relatively rare in sport, eye injuries are serious because of the potentially catastrophic consequences. Clinical evaluation and early treatments are critical in the successful management of ocular and orbital trauma. Surgical implications following orbital or ocular trauma will be presented. New and traditional eye protective equipment for sport will be addressed. In addition, considerations for refractive eye surgery in athletes will be reviewed.
