This educational resource details the procedure for determining suitable areas for planning a given crop using a hierarchical analytical process (AHP) combined with the geographic information system (GIS). For this, a case study of apple cultivation is used, in which the assessment of suitability consists of analyzing nine variables organized into four groups (soil, topography, hydro-climate, and socioeconomic). Based on key informant assessments, relative weights are assigned to each of the nine variables using the AHP.
