This books continues from Essential Fluids with MATLAB and Octave (Part 1), , which is a free, open access, eBook that can be downloaded from the download page. The reader is encouraged to acquire the book as it will be referenced for figures, equations, and examples in Part 2. The reader is also encouraged to visit the prerequisites and information about fluid mechanics found in Chapters 1, 2, and 3 as they are not included in Part 2.
Essential Fluids with MATLAB and Octave - Part 2 (Application) is about the design of fluid systems. The handling of the problems will be based on standard practice common to all undergraduate fluid mechanics textbooks. My only original contribution to this part is the inclusion of computing where possible. These will be based on MATLAB and its free GNU counterpart Octave.
The problems in Part 2 will feature design and applications based on simple parameterized models. All of these are input/output models are infused with parameters that are read off charts or interpolated from tables. Several of these charts are available as correlation equations so the information can be easily computed instead of physically being looked up. There is a robust and extensive database of tables and charts. This collection is usually included in many fluid mechanics textbooks as appendix. Here we will access them online, where available.
The database collection for this book are available online at the time of writing. I certainly wish they will be still available when you need them. They mostly rely on Wikimedia commons, national lab databases, free university databases, or free business databases. It will be unfortunately limited by my skills, search creativity and knowledge of their availability. The Chapters of this book cover
