General Chemistry Prep is a complete, openly licensed textbook for students preparing to enter general chemistry, written for readers who have high-school algebra and no prior chemistry coursework. Ten chapters cover measurement and significant figures; unit systems and dimensional analysis; the classification of matter; atoms, molecules and subatomic particles; electronic structure and periodicity; chemical bonding; nomenclature; the mole and chemical formulas; chemical calculations and equations; and states of matter. Each chapter opens with a real-world scenario, develops concepts through worked examples that show dimensional analysis with units visibly cancelling, and closes with Concept Mastery Exercises with full solutions, chapter-end problems, and a ten-question practice test whose answer key includes a worked rationale for every item. The site is not only a reading text. 73 in-chapter practice problems re-randomize their numbers on demand, so a student can work the same skill repeatedly with fresh values and check each attempt against a step-by-step solution, and a separate practice portal adds 150 auto-graded problems across all ten chapters. A formula and constant reference sheet, a periodic table reference page, full-text search across the whole book, and a subject index are included. Accessibility is built into the source rather than retrofitted: every figure carries both alt text and a written description detailed enough to reconstruct it without seeing it, data tables carry explicit header rows, and mathematics is rendered as scalable vector output paired with a MathML representation that screen readers announce.
