The EPSILON Assumption Clinic is a 25-minute, paper-friendly worksheet for inspecting the assumptions behind a backtest. Learners read one market claim, write down what would make them reject it, list the strategy’s hidden assumptions (universe, dates, fees, signal timing, execution), and compare their conclusion before and after inspecting the evidence. The worked example is EPSILON’s fixed historical case 001: a momentum strategy that returned -7.75% at baseline with 0 of 5 perturbations passing — verdict: rejected. The case is preserved as a negative result on purpose: the exercise is about honest inference, not finding a profitable trade. Who can use it: a student club, educator, or small study group. No coding or financial account is required. Status: pilot format, not a completed or evaluated educational program.
