Material Detail

IcyZip is a browser-based handoff tool for moving live text, links, code snippets and one selected file between exactly two devices. An instructor or learner can open it on a computer and pair a phone or tablet by scanning the on-page QR code or opening the private link. Both browser views must stay open and online. Text remains editable on both sides. Files are offered one at a time, up to 25 MiB each, with sequential transfers possible.

Current browser clients encrypt transfer content before it is relayed. The service still sees operational connection data and, for file offers, the filename, type and size. No participant account or app installation is required. The hosted service is currently free and proprietary. The isolated E2E-encryption component, protocol notes and runnable tests are public under Apache-2.0 at https://icyzip.com/open-source. It is not cloud storage, folder sync, offline pickup, LAN discovery, peer-to-peer transfer or a background clipboard synchronizer.
