This build guide documents a low-cost, open-source AI navigation glasses prototype (hardware cost under US$30) designed to be reproducible by community makers. The author made contact with 4 residential communities in China (reaching nearly 60 visually impaired or low-vision residents through neighborhood committees) and ran hands-on build workshops in 3 of them; a structured follow-up is in progress. The device is a research prototype — not clinically validated, not certified, and not a replacement for a white cane, guide dog, or orientation-and-mobility training. It serves a specific population, not a general audience, and the guide does not overclaim safety or efficacy.
