'The Gram stain is undoubtedly the most widely-used differential stain in microbiology laboratories. In a matter of just a few minutes, a microbiologist can obtain information concerning the relative size, shape, arrangement and cellular architecture of bacterial isolates.'

4. Predict the outcomes of improperly performed Gram stain reactions.
5. Compare the Gram stain to other staining procedures used in our laboratory.'
