This is the first online lecture in a three part series to introduce new voice students to concepts in voice study.  The presentation considers the commonalities of good singing across styles and cultures, the role of training, and asks students to consider the influence of their musical background on their own singing.

The online lecture may be used to flip course material outside the classroom and open up classroom time for more singing. Students may be requiried to complete the assignment given in the lecture.
