Active Worlds is a VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) site that contains a set of virtual ?worlds?. The site requires a download of a free VRML enabled browser that allows users to create an ?avatar? (a representation of the user in Cyberspace) and move it through a virtual 3 dimensional space. Users can see and talk to each other?s avatars in the space. Active Worlds could be viewed as a prototype for future Cyber Worlds that can be used to form ?cyber communities?.
