Case Study: Tornadoes

One of the most memorable tornado outbreaks in Illinois history occurred on April 19, 1996. During the day, 33 tornadoes were reported as supercells erupted and moved across the state during the afternoon and evening hours. This site incorporates a large amount of research on this storm, with images, NEXRAD close ups, data, and chronology.
