Evolution of the Topology of High-voltage Electricity Network

This video was recorded at 4th European Conference on Complex Systems. The electricity network represents an example of an evolving complex system. The first local network consisted of only few components, but within several decades they have evolved into a highly connected continental system. The growth of the network is influenced by various factors such as economy, demography, politics and technological developments. In this paper we follow the growth of the French electricity transmission network from its establishment in 1960 until the year 2000. The data set contains 21 maps (for different years) of the 400KV power lines.
