Towards New Business Models in the Energy Sector based on Software-as-a-Service-Utilities and Value-added Services

This video was recorded at eChallenges e-2010 Workshops, Warsaw 2010. The energy sector currently faces challenges in carbon dioxide reduction, energy efficiency, new forms of energy production and distribution which includes energy supply by former energy consumers. E-mobility is another interesting part of the game. New driver systems, battery, billing, and smart grid technologies are setting the stage for tomorrow's Electric Ecosystem. This presentation gives an outlook on global energy challenges based on well-founded assumptions and trends to highlight one interesting, singular business model in the plethora of potential models. A selectively optimistic scenario for specified stakeholders in the energy market addresses the adoption of state-of-the art ICT solutions, considering results of the ongoing project COIN, which is funded by the European Community.
