A Mixed-lingual Phonological Component in Polyglot TTS Synthesis

This video was recorded at Joint AMI/PASCAL/IM2/M4 Workshop on Multimodal Interaction and Related Machine Learning Algorithms, Martigny 2004. Polyglot text-to-speech synthesis, i.e. the synthesis of sentences containing one or more inclusions from other languages, primarily depends on an accurate morpho-syntactic analyzer for such mixed-lingual texts. From the output of this analyzer, a mixed-lingual phonological component can derive a correct pronunciation by application of language-specific phonological transformation rules that are restricted by syntactic, graphemic and phonological context constraints
