This is a Youtube channel for "Arts One Open" (http://artsone-open.arts.ubc.ca) which is an online extension of a course called Arts One at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada (http://artsone.arts.ubc.ca).

There are lectures here on literary texts (novels, plays, poetry), philosophical texts (e.g., Plato, Hobbes, Rousseau, Foucault, Fanon, Hacking), and history texts (e.g., Michel-Rolph Trouillot). There are also lectures on films (e.g., Apocalypse Now).

These lectures are about 1 hr and 40 minutes each; in this course, students get one long lecture per week (1 hr, 50 minutes with a break about halfway through), and then the rest of the week they spend discussing the works in small groups in seminars.
