The Concept of Self-Esteem in Nursing Education and its Impact on Professional Behaviour (PDF Download Available)
Aim of the article is to the effect of self-esteem in nursing education and practice of the nursing profession.
Nurses with low sel- esteem face challenges in communication with colleagues and patients, have reduced empathy, and efficacy. Nurses with high self-esteem have better communication and collaboration with peers, patients, and subsequently perform better than their low- self esteem counterparts. This article suggests the nursing education should focus on enhancing the self-esteem of students in order to increase theoretical knowledge and skills required to practice as a nurse.
