American Cancer Society: Risk Factors for Prostate Cancer
A risk factor is anything that affects chances of getting a disease. The exact causes of prostate cancer are undetermined, but researchers have found several factors that may change the risk of getting it. For some of these factors, the link to prostate cancer risk is not yet clear. Factors include: age, race/ethnicitiy, nationality, family history, genes, diet, obesity, exercise level, inflammation of the prostate, infection, and having a vasectomy.
