This e-learning course is dedicated to advancing and promoting the awareness of the sport of springboard diving to the wider community. This course is an introduction to platform and springboard diving and has been designed for people with no prior knowledge about springboard diving. The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
The course consists of four (4) units and includes a history of diving, the anatomy of a springboard, the six groups of dives, six types of springboard and platform dives, elements of a dive, understanding dive numbers, how judging and scoring works, FINA diving rules, competitions and age groups, learn to dive, what is dryland, degree of difficulty, etc. The course also looks at the competition format of the Olympic games, FINA junior diving world championship and FINA diving world championships / series.
In addition, videos were added at the end of the course to teach learners how to watch diving (sport) and attempts to bring together the essential knowledge in diving to help learners truly appreciate the nature of diving. The course includes activities, glossary, links to external websites, and useful resources. The springboard and platform diving information presented in this course is great for visual learners wanting to learn springboard diving 101 and goes into more depth than any beginner's guide to springboard diving.
At the end of the course, learners have the option to download and attempt the assessment or use the document to informally assess their knowledge on springboard diving basics.
