The activity aims to promote students’ reflections on the meaning of "independence", from personal independence to political independence. Our students want to be independent and the activity intends to promote their reflections on  this concept and on their role in society as independent persons. By comparing  the historical paths towards independence of three different European Countries, the activity also intends to consolidate their awareness of being European, their knowledge of the history of our continent and improve their linguistic skills in English as a foreign language. By comparing personal and Country independence, this activity should lead students to understand that independence of one person/Country has boundaries that meet independence of other people/Countries.
