The Human Genome Project: Exploring Our Molecular Selves

Developed to celebrate the achievements of scientists who had created a first draft of the human genome. This site contains educational materials about its mapping and sequencing. It covers topics such as genetic milestones; genes, variation and human history; how to sequence a genome; ethical, legal and social implications; a glossary of genetics terms; and medical implications; It is enriched with numerous video clips and animations and has activities both for downloading and online use. While targeted for grades 9-12, many of the materials would be appropriate for introductory college biology, especially for non-majors.
