Epigenetics & the Human Brain
Epigenetic processes such as histone modification and DNA methylation play a significant role in brain function. Changes within the epigenetic processes are also linked to brain diseases such as mental illnesses and addiction. The video on this site includes a segment lectured by Dr. Moshe Szyf, Professor of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at McGill University, discussing studies that show the epigenetic link between child abuse and suicide risk. Students can also learn about other connections between epigenetics and behavior.
