WebTerm Learn is a free set of interactive courses for the Linux command line, Git and Vim. Every lesson runs in a simulated Linux terminal in the web browser, so students can practice real commands with nothing to install and without risk to their own computers (even rm -rf / only affects the simulation).

Each lesson pairs short illustrated slides with hands-on exercises that are checked immediately, with hints and a reset button when learners get stuck. The 12 courses (129 lessons) range from terminal basics, file permissions, pipes and regular expressions to Git branching, merge conflicts and rebase, plus Vim editing. Progress is shown on a game-like 3D map.

Available in English and Japanese. The first lesson of each learning course needs no account; the rest require a free account. Instructors at educational institutions can request free access to a teacher dashboard that shows each student's progress.
