Material Detail

A printable, one-page Vim cheat sheet for beginners. It covers 54 keys for saving and quitting, modes, moving the cursor, deleting and copying, operators with motions, text objects, search and replace, visual mode and macros. Rows are grouped by what the student wants to do (for example "Search and replace") rather than alphabetically, and it starts with how to quit Vim.

It is available as a PDF (A4 landscape), PNG images and a web page, in English and Japanese. It is free with no sign-up and licensed CC BY 4.0, so instructors can hand it out in class or adapt it with attribution.

Each key on the sheet links to the lesson that teaches it, where students can practice it in a Vim editor that runs in the browser.
