Gardening can be a therapeutic and relaxing activity that can help you connect with nature, thereby relieving stress. It is probably safe to say that most people agree that nature is beautiful and that it can provide a calm and peaceful environment in which we can distress and think more clearly, and there is something very satisfying in creating our own beautiful spaces out in our yards. It is extremely gratifying to see the results of your efforts, and over time as your plants and spaces mature, the reward becomes even greater. We all experience stress and possibly even dissatisfaction with various aspects of our lives, and gardening can help us find balance by providing stress relief and feelings of satisfaction with ourselves, as well as provide beautiful outdoor spaces for us to enjoy when we aren’t actively engaged in gardening activities. Nature is an excellent vehicle for meditating, and gardening can instill those feelings of peace and clarity in us, similarly to other meditative experiences out in nature. When we have beautiful spaces in our own yards, we are far more likely to get out there and enjoy the benefits of nature’s therapy. I think that everyone should try gardening for its stress relief and meditation benefits.
