'Totton College is an inclusive sixth form college situated just outside Southampton on the edge of the New Forest. There has been relatively poor achievement in A level Biology over the past four years. A significant factor is the very varied level 2 science knowledge and skills of the students who enrol. M-learning provided us with the opportunity to address this through personalised learning and active/interactive independent learning in a way that both enthused and challenged the students. The project’s aims were:

• To explore how mobile technology can enhance teaching and learning in A level Biology and improve learner achievement in A level Biology; 
• To improve overall engagement of A level Biology students particularly in terms of independent study and completion of work; 
• To provide further opportunities for personalised learning and independent learning that is active and interactive.'
