An excellent Chemistry site for the comprehension of th structural arrangement of select molecules and some elements.  The topics choosen are usually timely to comtemporary news or scientific developments.  As such, the demonstrations provide very useful information for the student to relate a chemistry issue to current events.

NOTE: viewing of the 3D molecules requires JMOL viewer plug-in; a link is provided to allow the download.  BUT, it is strongly suggested that instructors notify students that some anti-viral and firewall programs may initially block the download of the JMOL plug-in.

This material would be very useful for online learning as well as simulated lab sessions in a computer lab.  A text box next to the molecule provides historical information as well as information relevant to the physiological, medical, industrial, or biological applications of the molecule. The topics discussed could include relating strucutre of the molecule to function; electron space filling by the molecule; VSEPR; the interaction sites of solvents; and functional groups of the molecules.  This site would be helpful in the instruction of general, organic, biological, as well as pharmaceutical chemistry.
