The first half of this guide to selecting a research topic explains the logic of making the research task manageable. Examples, tips, and two activities instruct students how to reduce the scope of a topic that is too broad, and increase the scope of one that is too narrow. The second half presents and expands on the process of searching online databases. Students have the option to take a nine question review quiz after working through the guide.
