This is a comprehensive resource for Developmental English courses with ample content to supplement instruction for a number of different writing assignments. In addition, the ability to create annotation groups makes it easy to assign chapters for homework and see how many students read it, as well as how many students are reading it well. That said, I do have a few complaints about the book. One is that it leans VERY heavily towards the writing side of things, somewhat at the expense of the reading section which remains a bit thin. Also, even though it was updated recently, there is zero mention of AI, which I think needs to be addressed in any reading and writing textbook these days. Finally, the organization doesn't always make sense to me. Certain sections of the book, such as the "Reading Actively" portion which teaches the SQ3R method, would be better placed earlier in the chapter before the parts about marking a text and reading for main ideas and key details, as this is the order in which the reading process usually happens. Still, since it is an electronic text and you can just put a link in your LMS to the section you want students to read no matter its actual location in the book, this is not an insurmountable problem.
