The BBC lecture of Giddens offers students a basic sense of his thinking of global and international processes in the late 1990s. However, students should be (a) provided context to the debates on 1990s globalization and how Giddens locates himself in this debate, and (b) alerted to emerging global and international economic, political, and cultural changes that challenges Giddens's argument. The learning exercises associated with the lecture provide opportunity to start analytical discussion. However, additional materials and questions would be needed for a deeper and more engaging discussion and learning.
