Learn Synthetic Biology in an engaging way: This school package explains the problem of antibiotic resistance and a way to tackle it using Synthetic Biology.

The SYNPEPTIDE project presents an alternative approach to deal with the growing threat of multidrug-resistant bacteria: lantibiotics, a special type of antibiotics, come to help. The materials provided in the school package explain the structure of lantibiotics and another promising type of active substance, proteusin. Starting from the very beginning, the materials clarify the difference between bacteria and viruses as well as explain the structure and functions of amino acids, proteins, and different levels of their organization. In addition, an educational game Synmod, available for iOS and Android, introduces the topic of Synthetic Biology in a fun and engaging way. The game helps memorize the names and abbreviations of 20 common amino acids.

The school package allows users to integrate the knowledge about amino acids and proteins with the application of this knowledge to tackle the problem of drug resistance.
