The study compares athletic performance of swimmers that are optimists versus pessimists. Howell provides: an introduction, a section on explanatory style, a section on athletic performance, methods and results. This is a great look at how statistics can be applied to many different disciplines, in this case sports, and provide wonderful insight into different aspects of the field.
