This is a profile of the General Education (GE) Pathways program at California State University, Chico, prepared for a forthcoming report, "Innovations in General Education: Giving California Students a Compass." The GE Pathways program includes 48 units (39 lower division, 9 upper division), with 36 units organized into 10 themes (e.g., diversity, health and wellness, sustainability studies). Students may choose lower divison courses from any Pathway, but take the 9 upper division units in a single Pathway. If a student takes at least 18 units in a Pathway, including the upper division units, they earn a minor in that area of focus.
