It's very unfortunate that Tom Patterson had gotten pancreatitis Pseudocyst. The Acinetobacter bacteria the Patterson had contracted was highly resistant to antibiotics. The use of phage therapy to treat Patterson was very innovative and succeeded. The persistence of Patterson's wife and the teamwork of the researchers had helped further Phage therapy, and helped treat Patterson. It's interesting that bacteriophages were researched even before the popularization of antibiotics, but then was stopped because of the emergence of antibiotics.
